Townshend is a k-12 International school located in the beautiful South Bohemian countryside.  Students thrive in an environment of peace and safety, academic excellence, and character education, accompanied by a caring community of friends and teachers.

What makes Townshend Unique?

Caring International Community

Staff and students actively contribute to a community where everyone is welcomed, valued, and can be their authentic selves.

We place great importance on qualities such as kindness and compassion, allowing students to quickly form a second home here, with family from all around the world.

Opportunities for meaningful action

Students are given the opportunity to look beyond themselves, and to consider how they can benefit their community.

Whether through charity fund-raising, tutoring younger peers, beautifying the environment, or visiting elderly homes, students build their capacity to have a meaningful impact.

Dedicated Residential Programme

Our residential programme is just as important as our academic one. A full-time team of dormitory parents and assistants work together to create a safe and structured family environment, where students learn to live together respectfully, form healthy friendships, and develop the capacity to share their thoughts and emotions.

Peaceful and safe

Located on a quiet hilltop in the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, the Townshend campus is surrounded by the serene countryside of South Bohemia.

Students thrive in this safe, peaceful and creative environment; away from the chaos of modern life, yet still close and connected to nearby European cities.

Character Education

We place great emphasis on character education, parallel to the pursuit of academic excellence. Students become self-sufficient, critical thinkers, grounded by a sense of social responsibility and an appreciation of cultural and intellectual diversity.

Blessed with a good character and academic skills, our students become ready and inspired to meet the needs of the world.
This school has changed and opened my mind about how education should be exercised. With its unique system, it enables the students to grow without placing them in a box, [and] lets them build up the communication skills, awareness to help other people, and moral excellency. As far as I can see, this school has come out with the complete package.

Townshend was the best experience I could have ever asked for. The level of Education, the teachers and the people you live with - it is all excellent and it all sums up to make it an amazing experience. I graduated in 2011, and can say - by far - that Townshend opened the doors for my professional career, and taught me to be a more humane and moral human being.

I came to this school when I was only 12, and I still see my decision to move from Brazil to Czech Republic as one of the best decisions in my life.
